A Teenage brought back from the dead by Shayne Ward's songs met his hero yesterday and said 'You're amazing' Shane Callaghan, 18 claims Ward's music inspired him to make a miracle recovery after a car crash last October. He was left in a coma for five weeks with severe brain injuries after the smash. When he finally came round Shane used Ward's X Factor hit "Thats My Goal" to get himself on the road to recovery. The youngester's dreams came true on Tuesday night when he got to meet his idol at Ardmore Studios in Co.Wicklow. Delighted Shane, from Kilcullen, Co.Kildare, said: 'I was taken to the studio as a surprise and had no idea he would be there. "I saw him and I was delighted. He came over and spoke to me and my sister and was so nice. After he did his performance he came back over to us and sat down with us for a few hours. He was dead sound and you wouldnt think he was a celebrity at all because he was really down to earth. I couldnt believe it." Shane, who had only done his Leaving Cert a few months before, suffered serious brain and chest injuries when he crashed his car on October 1. Doctors had to resuscitate him twice and worried parents, Brian and Theresa, feared he might never wake up. Shane who also has three sisters added: "I dont remember anything about the crash. I've been told I died twice and was brought back so I guess my injuries were quite bad." His mum Theresa firmly believes "Thats My Goal" played a huge part on his recovery. She said: "Hes just a miracle, he shouldnt be here. His injuries were horrific. We didnt know if he'd come out of the coma and if he did what he would be like. Shane had to learn to walk all over again and and couldnt talk for ages. The recovery he has made is just unbelieveable He is still in and out of hopsital and it'll probably be another year before he is fully recovered. But what he's done so hair is miraculous. He listened to Shayne Ward a lot when he was in hospital and when he came out but its when he heard "Thats My Goal" that his recovery really took off."
