A source said: “Shayne’s midweek sales are poor and there is no hiding from it. “With the amount of publicity that X Factor generated and all the promotion behind him, he should be in the top three with every release. “It wasn’t the best idea to cover a classic like Ben E King’s Stand By Me unless you re-invent the song. “WILL YOUNG managed it with The Doors’ Relight My Fire.” Shayne needs to buck up his ideas if he wants to last longer than 2004 X Factor winner STEVE BROOKSTEIN. Perhaps he should take a tip from JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE who is in town later this week to showcase his new material. I reckon it would serve Shayne well to go and see how the professionals do it.
