Shayne answers Tour Questions
22.03.07 Shayne answers your questions In between the tour and recording his forthcoming album Shayne has been answering the tour questions you submitted on the forum. In the first of our weekly instalments he discusses what it was like doing his first solo tour and what he's been doing since it finished. Debs74 asks How do you feel now the tour is over? I miss it and I wish it was longer. It was four weeks of intense concerts and I felt a bit lost when it finished. It was just such a great feeling I just really really enjoyed it and I can tell you now, I can't wait for the next one. Georgie_x asks What was the first thing you did when the tour finished? I literally went straight into recording the album. I went away for a couple of days, but it wasn't really a holiday to be honest. I'm looking forward to maybe having a proper holiday soon, but who knows at this moment in time with all the recording I'm doing. It's pretty much here, there and everywhere. Sach asks How different was this tour from the X Factor tour? It was brilliant doing it for my tour and nobody else's. Last time it was with the X Factor but this time it was all about me! xJoanneJx asks What did it mean to you to go to all these venues around the UK performing to hundreds of thousands of people? I was gutted it finished to be honest. It just went so quick and it was a lot better than I ever dreamt it would be. It was weird. It was a great feeling to walk on stage every night and feel all those people who'd come especially to see me!

Week Two S_W4eva asks What was you favourite venue and why? Definitely the start of the tour, which was amazing at The Point. Then carrying on it has to be the Manchester homecoming gig. Because I’m from Manchester, it will always be a special feeling doing a homecoming gig, and those dates were just absolutely amazing. Plus the four dates at the start in Dublin were special as well because the support there is so fantastic and I’m just so grateful. I just love going back there every time. And of course Wembley was crazy. NikkiUK asks What was your favourite song to sing and why? I think it would have to be Purple Rain. It was just fun. It was just a great thing to do and have the crowd singing along. It is great to do my songs and hear everyone singing my songs like That’s My Goal or No Promises, but to do something that wasn’t my song it just had to be Purple Rain. It really is an amazing song. Starieyed_Lover asks Did you get to choose what went in the set list? Yes. In meetings I was told what sections we could do and what songs might be good and I got to pick and choose which ones I thought would be suit the night.

Week Three Michelle asks How did you feel moments before going on stage each night? I was excited to be honest. Me and the dancers would be back stage and just gear each other up before we got our stage call and then we were on and that was it. I wasn’t even nervous, it was just brilliant. As soon as I’d get ready to come up through the stage and I could hear the crowd it was just brilliant. The adrenalin was pumping but the nerves would go. That’s the great thing about performing live. Shez_x asks How did you cope with nerves? It was a bit scary because it’s all live and if you made a mistake thousands of people saw it, but I love the whole live thing. It was about the dancers and me having fun. We’d gear ourselves up before each show and promise to have fun even if something went wrong. And you know what, even if we did make a mistake, people could see that we were still having fun. Blondey asks Do you have any rituals you do before you went on stage? Not as such. Me and the dancers would always do the symbolic hands in the centre of each other to get in the zone like, ‘no matter what happens just enjoy yourself and carry on no matter what’ and it seemed to work!

Week Four Lozi1 asks How long did it take you to learn those amazing dance routines? The dancing was absolutely amazing. What an experience! It was me that turned round and said, ‘I want to dance on this tour’ and when I first met this choreographer I was like, ‘Oh my God!’ because she was so amazing. It was great and the dancers were fantastic and I enjoyed dancing with them loads. I told my choreographer to push me to my limits and she did! If she didn’t believe I could do it then we wouldn’t do it, but we understood each other and worked well together. We just clicked really. But I was aching and I should’ve stretched more to be honest. Starieyed_Lover asks Which was your favourite dance routine to learn and perform? Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough. It was just dancing with the guys. There’s three guys on the tour and three girls and it was the boys moment. They come up through the stage and then it was me and guys dancing and having fun. It was just great. I tried Moonwalking one night and nearly fell, so I didn’t try again! But we just had a lot of fun in that section of the show. x_Ciara_x asks Did you get to work on the dance choreography? I left that all to the choreographer. She’s just worked with Westlife and has actually worked with everyone good in the UK. She was absolutely fantastic.

Week Five Joan asks Did you have any input into the clothes you wore for the tour? Yes. The great thing is that we had a great stylist and she knew we wanted to go for a younger look for the tour. It was more of a playful look and people were complimenting me all the time. It was good to actually be young and not be in a suit for once! In the Bond section obviously I had to wear a suit but I loved that bit. Lorrieloo asks Were you scared coming down from the ceiling in the James Bond part? When I first did it in rehearsals I was scared. I didn’t know whether once I’d stepped off this thing was I going to be pulled up or was I going to fall really fast? I was weird because it’s not something you do every day! I had a harness on but when you jump off, the way you fall depends on your weight. The lighter you are the faster you go and vice versa, but after the first time I just couldn’t wait to get up there again! It might not have looked that high from the audience, but when you’re up there believe me, it’s like the highest thing in the world! JoJoa20 asks Is there going to be a DVD of the tour? Not that I know of because we didn’t really talk about it. It would’ve been great but to be honest it will probably be on the next one. It would’ve been nice because it was my first one but my family recorded some footage for our own personal enjoyment, so that’s nice to see.
