Pet Shop Boys have a pop at pop
The Pet Shop Boys have launched a stinging attack on reality TV pop stars like X-Factor winner Shayne Ward. The duo are frustrated that the phrase "pop music" has become something to be ashamed of following the success of shows like Pop Idol and X-Factor. But singer Neil Tennant reckons the future of pop music is safe in the hands of the likes of Kaiser Chiefs and Arctic Monkeys - even though they don't like to describe themselves as "pop" bands. He said: "We are going through a phase where the term 'pop' is used to mean rubbish. "But bands like the Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs, Killers, Franz Ferdinand, make pop music. They like to think they are rock but they are pop and all have a sense of fun about what they do and have a great look. "It annoys me that pop gets clogged up with Pop Idol and reality TV rubbish. "Shayne Ward has a waxwork in Madame Tussauds - can you believe it?!"

Ok Shayne seems to be gettin alot of unfair treatment, tho I don't know what comments are made about other pop acts, people seem to be comin down on him, as if he's the totality of pop music! He's not, and it's not jus reality tv shows that make pop music c*** in my opinion! I don't think Shayne is any better or any worse than any other "pop" act! So I think if they are gonna have a go, have a go at ALL the people that make pop so bland and boring! Not jus Shayne! :arrow:

Just let them talk, if they wanna talk. If they get off on it, let them get off on it. We know its a load of rubbish, how could Arctic Monkeys even consider trying to make "pop" music, no! Poeple do seem to be coming down on Shayne alot lately, and it is because of The X Factor, and people dont like reality TV shows, but if you ask me, theyre the best way to become a star like Shayne! You get voted BY FANS, and THEM FANS are the ones that make your msuic career! :arrow:
