Shayne gives Arena the X-Factor
Shayne Ward (Hallam FM Arena)
IF this is what Shane Ward can do on his first ever tour, world-renowned showmen like Robbie Williams need to watch out.
For two hours, last year's X Factor winner belted out hit after hit to a deafening crowd -hardly pausing for breath.
His chart-topping No Promises and That's My Goal came towards the end of a long list of numbers appealing to all generations, including songs which helped him secure a legion of loyal fans during his X Factor journey - A Thing Called Love by The Darkness, and his unique version of Over the Rainbow.
Making the most of his incredible vocal range, particularly those top notes he has become famous for, he performed cover versions of Prince hits including Kiss, When Doves Cry and Purple Rain.
He also showed off his dance moves with a cover of Michael Jackson's Don't Stop and Dare by The Gorillas. Another popular cover included George Michael's Fast Love.
Playing up to the female dominated audience - ranging from primary school aged children to grandmas and everything in between – it didn't take much to get his fans screaming. A few cheeky hip moves as he danced certainly got a reaction but so too did the moments he spent simply staring out at the sea of fans that flooded the Arena as he soaked up their adulation.
It would be impossible not to be impressed by his voice, but combined with the talented dancers he had on stage with him for most of the fast numbers and his James Bond medley - complete with Shayne abseiling onto stage - it made his show a true spectacular and one not to be missed.
