Stars lined up to launch illuminations A star-studded line of acts is set to appear at this year's Illumination switch-on in Blackpool. X-Factor winner Shayne Ward, ex-Boyzone favourite Ronan Keating and The Zutons will launch the world-famous lights on Friday 1 September. Broadcast live, thousands of visitors will be welcomed to the Radio 2 Arena by DJ Mark Goodier, as he presents a one-off Switch On special show between 8.30pm and 9.30pm. Synth-pop act Goldfrapp and emerging singer-songwriter Paolo Nutini will also be performing singles at the ceremony. In recent years Chris Evans, Steps, Westlife and Geri Halliwell have all turned on the Illuminations in front of huge crowds. Cabinet Member for Tourism and Regeneration in Blackpool Cllr Eddie Collett said: "With the announcement of this exciting line-up, everyone is now eagerly awaiting the confirmation of which special guest will flick the switch to launch the dazzling six-mile display ." Blackpool Illuminations will shine nightly from Friday 1st September until Sunday 5th November 2006. yesss i will be going!!!!
