from da official site It has been advised that you arrive at the event before 11am Wednesday, 29th March 2006 Shayne Ward to play free city gig Roland Hancock SHAYNE Ward will return to Manchester for a procession through the streets and a free gig to launch his debut album next month. The X Factor winner has persuaded police and council officials to close city centre roads so he can perform to an expected crowd of 15,000 fans in Albert Square. Shayne's Bank holiday homecoming will kick-off with a victory parade before the lunchtime concert followed by an afternoon with dignitaries at the town hall where he will receive an official award from the city. His management, led by X Factor judge Louis Walsh, expect to close Corporation Street and Cross Street from the Arndale Centre, as well as South Mill Street, Lloyd Street and possibly Princess Street. A member of his entourage, fresh from shooting his new video in Los Angeles, said: "We are looking at getting the barriers out and having a real homecoming procession for Shayne. Fans "Both he and Louis Walsh feel that it was his fans back at home who were responsible for his success and they want to give something back." Shayne will will perform several never-before-heard tracks from his album and his new single, No Promises, at the gig on Monday, April 17. Coun. Pat Karney said: "We are all very proud of Shayne and thought that we should recognise his achievements. This will be a great day out for everybody to remember." It will be Shayne's first public return to his home city without his X Factor friends since he wowed crowds at the Arndale Centre before Christmas. A source close to Shayne said: "His schedule has been absolutely exhausting since then. First there was recording the album in Sweden and London, then the 25-date, X Factor tour. "Shayne's looking forward to seeing his family as much as all of his fans."
